Skin
Epidermis - This is the thin, outer layer of the skin that is visible to the eye, it works to provide protection to the body. It is between 0.1mm to 0.2mm thick (or thin!). The epidermis has five layers. The top layer is called the Stratum Corneum and is even thinner - 0.01mm to 0.02mm, and for this reason it is essential to protect it and not use a granular exfoliator, which leaves the skin vulnerable
Dermis - This is the layer of skin that lies beneath the epidermis. It is the thickest layer of skin and is made up of fibrous and elastic tissue. You will find collagen and elastin in the dermis.
