Microbiome
Microbiome Science has now shown us that bacteria has a major roll in skin and health benefits, and that probiotics help get the healthy microbes back into balance. Our skin is covered in our own unique microbiome of (mostly good) viruses, fungi and bacteria and all of these things have an important role in keeping our skin healthy.
Chronic inflammation, stress, your diet and changes in your skin’s pH levels, among other factors, can create an imbalance in your microbiome and when our ecosystem gets imbalanced it can result in infections or skin conditions, such as acne, eczema, and rosacea. Our skins pH naturally increases with age, making it drier and allowing more ‘bad’ bacteria to grow. We now know that certain bacteria is good for us and science has shown that when we supplement our bodies with probiotics the bad bacteria dies off, helping to prevent these conditions. Probiotics are like a troop of bacteria superheroes – the good guys that are beneficial bacteria, feeding our microbiome to keep it healthy and to make it work better.
